After Noel Gallagher made the surprise announcement yesterday, Oasis officially premiered their previously unreleased song ‘Don’t Stop…’ at the stroke of midnight last night.

Clocking in at five minutes, Oasis' ‘Don’t Stop…’ is a stunning and heartfelt acoustic song that is written and sung by Noel Gallagher, and thematically the lyrics are strangely relevant for these turbulent times we’re going through.

Like a rallying call, Noel sings: “Don’t stop being happy / Don’t stop your clapping / Don’t stop your laughing / Take a piece of life / It’s alright to hold back the night.”

What did Liam Gallagher say about new Oasis song 'Don't Stop'?

Despite ‘Don’t Stop…’ being rapturously received by Oasis fans worldwide, this hasn’t stopped Liam Gallagher from having a pop at his older brother and wife Sara MacDonald this morning.

When one fan tweeted “NOEL'S a little bit desperate at the moment... Thought he'd moved on from OASIS ???”, Liam replied: “Exactly he’s desperate to get the band back together I know from a very very good source but the (witch image) is having none of it poor sod.”

Liam later tweeted: “Well there’s something missing in this god almighty stew and it’s your brother your brother don’t forget your brother La as you were LG x”

When was new Oasis song 'Don't Stop' recorded?

‘Don’t Stop…’ has been lost for around 15 years and originates from a soundcheck in Hong Kong in the mid-noughties just a few years before Oasis’ untimely split.

When was new Oasis song 'Don't Stop' released?

As Noel revealed yesterday (29th April), the Oasis legend came across ‘Don’t Stop…’ when he was having a big spring clean at home during lockdown.

He wrote: “Hey there dudes and dollies. Like the rest of the world I’ve had infinite time to kill lately so I thought I’d FINALLY look and find out what was actually on the HUNDREDS of faceless unmarked cd’s I’ve got lying around in boxes at home.

“As fate would have it I have stumbled across an old demo which I thought had been lost forever. As far as I’m aware there is only one version of this tune “out there” from an Oasis soundcheck in Hong Kong about 15 years ago? I’m not sure whether the soundcheck version pre-dates the demo as there’s no date on the cd.

“I know some of you love this tune so we thought we’d put it “out there” for you to enjoy/argue over. It’ll be up on the Internet from midnight. The song is called: 'Don’t Stop...' Hope everyone is staying safe and trying to ride out the lockdown with the minimum of fuss. You’re welcome by the way. ✌🏽(NG)'

Oasis ‘Don’t Stop…’ lyrics:

Bye, bye my friend I’m leaving.

I’m gonna feast on the stars in the sky.

While I’ll be gone don’t stop dreaming.

Don’t be sad and don’t cry.

*

Lazy days and sunny rays will guide me.

Back home to where I belong.

If god gives me grace then he will find me a space.

And I hope I’ll be singing this song.

*

Don’t stop being happy.

Don’t stop your clapping.

Don’t stop your laughing.

Take a piece of life.

It’s alright to hold back the night.
